(H)Arts and Advocacy

(H)Arts aims to recognize and address inequities within our healthcare systems through close examination of our health narratives, health and medical language, and the use of art as advocacy.

Advocacy Projects

Learn how you can become a TIME ADVOCATE:

Current insurance programs reimburse a clinician more for seeing two separate 15 minutes patients, than for seeing one patient for 30 minutes. This incentivizes healthcare systems to push clinicians to see more patients, but for shorter amounts of time. Research shows that this increases medical error, medical bias, and increases litigation (1). At the same time, it decreases patient satisfaction as well as clinician satisfaction with the encounter (2). It is a major contributor to clinician burn-out (3) which leads to less clinicians available to see patients, and furthers the problem.

Allowing patients and clinicians to have more time together improves all outcomes.

Advocate for our healthcare system to recognize and reimburse appropriately for improved patient-clinician connection and overall better healthcare outcomes.
